‘Cheesy’ Split Pea Patties

  • 200 grams yellow split peas
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 100 grams firm tofu (mashed with a fork)
  • onions (diced)
  • 4 Tbsp. nutritional yeast
  • 4 Tbsp. tapioca flour
  • 1 tsp. sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 2 Tbsp. sesame seeds (whole)
  • 4 Tbsp. fresh parsley (chopped)
  • oil (some)
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Boil yellow split peas in a medium pot. Add 1/2 tsp baking soda in the boiling water. This way the peas will boil faster. Boil it for about 30-40 minutes, or until it is soft.
  2. Drain the water and move the peas in a large bowl. Mash it with a fork, until it has a paste-like consistency.
  3. Add all the other ingredients, except oil. Mix well.
  4. Spray a medium frying pan with some oil. Use only non-stick frying pans.
  5. Make the patties using about 1 Tbsp of the composition per patty.
  6. Lightly fry each patty on both sides – 3 minutes per side.
  7. Place patties on a plate covered with a paper towel.
