WHAT IS VEGANISM?
Veganism is often defined by what we don’t eat: meat, fish, eggs and dairy, plus some of the animal ingredients that are hidden away in products, such as whey (from milk) and gelatine (from animal bones).
But really, we should focus on all the great stuff that vegans do eat. And in reality, the difference isn’t all that huge.
Instead of meaty burgers, sausage and steaks, we eat plant-based versions. Instead of dairy cheese on a pizza or cows’ milk in our coffee, we choose plant-based versions.
For almost every animal-derived ingredient and product, there is now a vegan alternative, and this means that a vegan meal may look and taste exactly like a non-vegan meal; it just doesn’t come with the animal suffering or the same environmental impact.

The Harmless Store is a fully vegan grocery shop, you can get your basic cupboard essentials here as well as some fun treats that will make you realise that there’s more to vegan than salad! Together we have a wide range of knowledge of veganism, so each time you come into store, you can expect confidence when asking for a replacement/ new things to try.
Tami and Jess are opposite vegans, Tami loves the meat alternative as she went vegan for the animals where as Jess would rather not as she didn’t like meat anyway. Neither one is better than the other but there are so many options and each of us have very different opinions and tastes which works for our customers as everyone experiences being vegan differently.
